About the RRP Rule
The RRP Rule was announced by the EPA on April 22, 2008, and is being implemented in stages over two years; Full compliance with the rule will be required by April 2010. Under the rule contractors performing renovation, repair and painting projects that disturb lead-based paint in homes, child care facilities and schools build before 1978 must be certified and follow specific work practices to prevent lead contamination. A firm must apply to the EPA to become certified and a renovator must complete and EPA approved 8-hour course.
